The project involves a showroom expansion and renovation, as well as design-build modifications to the mechanical systems including sprinkler, HVAC, and electrical. Exterior renovations will include new ACM panels, aluminum windows and storefront with updated Toyota entry element constructio and signage. The dealership will remain open for business during the renovations.

The project involved renovations to several existing areas and the construction of a new 14,000 sf addition incorporating elements from both Hyundai and the Jewett design team. New features include a well-lit showroom on the sales floor, new vehicle drop off and comfortable customer service area. A combination of finishes—glazing, EFIS, Metal Panel and split-faced block—adorn the exterior. Lot improvements include new concrete sidewalks, landscaping, elevated vehicle display area, and re-grading and asphalt pavement throughout most of the building site. An open house is planned for mid-March.

The dealership remained open for business throughout the multi-phased project, despite the challenge of providing ongoing access to service bays and the redirection of sales traffic to a temporary sales building.

The extensive project, Jewett’s 40^th automotive dealership job, incorporates the “Integral Design Approach” which encourages Architect, Engineer, Client and Contractor interaction from the very beginning to create a more profitable project with shortened timelines. The renovation also requires a good deal of design creativity, as the minimal expansion allowed by local building codes necessitates working within the existing footprint. Slated for completion in December of this year, the job includes demolition of a small part of the existing facility and construction of a new service department with 50 percent increased-capacity, charging stations for electric vehicles, and expanded customer lounge with Wi-Fi and improved customer parking. The facility will also feature a new drive-through service check-in, two-story showroom, new corporate offices and a state of the art training facility. The project will be done in phases and the dealership will remain open throughout construction. Progress updates will be posted on both Jewett’s and Grappone Automotive’s Facebook pages throughout.

This two story, 12,000 SF addition to the LAARS Heating Systems manufacturing facility is the second such expansion Jewett Construction has built for the company in recent years. The ground-up building is structural steel with exterior stone veneer, EIFS, and insulated metal panels with an added stamped concrete patio. The addition houses a new customer center and training facility, as well as additional office space; and boasts a number of specialty features including an ornate, laminated beam curved company canopy, a fifty-plus elevated seating and ADA-accessible classroom/training room equipped with a state-of-the-art A/V system, an elevator, and interior millwork at the lobby area with coordinating finishes. The project went from concept to completion in under 12 months, meeting its original schedule. 

In 2007, Jewett constructed a 22,000 sf addition for LAARS that included a receiving office, two handicap accessible restrooms, and warehouse space featuring five overhead doors and four dock levelers.
